Comparative Analysis of Inorganic Ceramic Membrane and Organic Membrane

In general, we will divide the synthetic film into organic film and inorganic film according to the material of the film element. The organic membrane is made of various materials, such as cellulose acetate, aromatic polyamide, polyether sulfone, polyfluoropolymer, etc. Inorganic membrane production materials include metal film, ceramic film, alloy film, etc., of which the most widely used is ceramic film.
Organic membranes have a large market share due to their abundant manufacturing materials, low cost per unit membrane area, and high packing density of membrane components. However, organic film materials, most organic solvents and organic pollutants have non-polar or weak polar characteristics, which makes the organic film susceptible to organic liquid and chemical reagent contamination, greatly reducing the service life.
The inorganic ceramic film is affected by the material, resulting in its high cost and fragility, and needs to be installed in a specific housing. However, inorganic ceramic membrane has excellent chemical stability, high temperature resistance, chemical solvent resistance, strong anti-pollution ability; high mechanical strength, more suitable for high viscosity, high solid content and complex fluid material separation;
Due to the narrow pore size distribution of inorganic ceramic membranes, cross-flow filtration can significantly increase the specific molecular weight and greatly improve the separation efficiency.
The service life of inorganic ceramic membrane is 3-5 times that of organic ceramic membrane. The application range of organic membranes is usually limited to relatively simple processing environments such as low concentrations and micro-pollution. Organic membranes are easily blocked and difficult to recycle. Inorganic ceramic membrane has rich specifications, including microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, membrane separation technology is in a leading position in the world, and has been widely used in chemical industry, food processing, environmental protection water treatment, new energy treatment and other fields.
